PODCAST: Life Is Weird, Guys

We're getting real deep about life and how it changes from childhood to adulthood to the point when we're ready to kick the bucket. We don't know why life is the way it is but we sure talk a lot about it in this episode. We also get into the details of a private school application gone way wrong, which is likely due to the fact that we are so NOT rule followers. Seriously, listen all the way through to find out what ridiculous and unwritten rules we've broken.

And this week’s podcast is brought to you by…

We're a #FabFitFunPartner, y'all! We love it. TOP QUOTES FROM THIS PODCAST:

BUSINESS TAKEAWAYS

  • In entrepreneurship and motherhood, everything that you don't already know seems overwhelming.

  • When you first become an entrepreneur, you’re so desperate to do anything to make it work that part of you gives up your integrity. We said “yes” to everything at the detriment of our sanity and our families, but we knew we had to go through it and that it was the right thing to do. Now we have more of a voice, and we've earned the right to say “no.”

  • Because we have so many kids and we take time away from them, we cannot attend all of the events that we used to go to. We've earned the respect from different advertising agencies, clients, and PR agencies because of all that we did back then. So now if we're not doing it, it's because it doesn't make sense, not because we're being divas. We don't have time or we're physically not around to do it all. We used to take time out just to prove that we're hard workers but now we show our hard work in the actual campaigns that we sign and agree to do instead of doing extra shit.

  • Our job is both shitty but amazing. The tradeoff of having a fun job is that we don't get to have a lot of personal fun. When we come home, our time and energy goes right to the kids and then whatever's leftover is for the husbands. This is just the way life is right now.

  • Little rules are a waste of time in life and they also fuck with creativity and cause depression. That being said, a lot of people feel safe with strict guidelines and rules. Some people love rules and some hate them.

#MOMTRUTH MOMENTS

  • I believe there is a shift coming and people are understanding that it’s better to make the most out of people rather than make them conform. If you can bring out their inner person, you are way ahead. And that goes for parents, too. If we have higher expectations of our children than we do for ourselves or our partners, that's fucked. Kids aren't allowed to have a bad mood or make mistakes, and we ride them so hard rather than give them a moment to breathe. But they have more going on in their day than we have in our day, because we have more choice and options. We can take a minute, but they don't get to take a minute.

INSPIRATIONAL TAKEAWAYS

  • If you are a boss or in a position of power, do your best to make people feel at ease rather than to fear you. Be someone who people can talk to rather than be afraid of. People learn differently, and that's not just in school. Your job as a boss is to get them to be the most productive they can be. And if you're a teacher, and a kid is failing, get them the support they need rather than just giving them an F.
