PODCAST: Fill Your Bucket
Well, we like to leave things to the very last minute, so we recorded this week’s episode in a car on our way back to London after our Manchester show! We re-cap our trip to the UK (so much happened), chat about the amazing collabs we did and give you a quick update on what we have planned for the next few months. Plus, we got a call that we’ve been waiting on for the past seven years….. This episode is a serious hodgepodge of stories and advice, and we also get into a deep and important convo with our special guest, Hassan (aka Daddy), who always has such an interesting perspective on everything in life.
TOP QUOTES FROM THIS PODCAST:
We’ve been working non-stop for seven years. When your job is in social media, you are always on your phone and there is no time off. And as an entrepreneur, you rarely step away and take a moment for yourself because you never really feel successful in your own head. We work on the road and then we go home and jump right back into the children. There is no time for ourselves, so we think it’s important to take these little moments here and there when we can.
Important lesson in work, life and motherhood: do whatever fills your bucket.
While we were in London, we wanted to meet up with friends that we’ve met online. Collaborating is really important for business, but it has to be with the right people. You don’t have to collaborate with everybody, because that would be a waste of your time. Make time for the people who you really want to meet or who have a business that aligns with yours. There has to be a synergy.
We have spent a lot of time re-aligning our intentions these last couple months. That sounds so cheesy, but we literally re-focused, re-grouped and got honest, and within weeks of getting where we wanted to be, good news started flowing in.
Way back when, Oprah said that when you close a door, other doors open up.
As a parent, you have to be careful how you act and how you react to certain situations and to other people because your kids are always watching you. How you talk about yourself, your friends and other people, your outlook on the world and the way you accept what’s going on in the world and on the news, will affect your relationship with your children and how they communicate with you. It’s a lot of pressure on parents, of course, but it’s important to check your behaviour when your kids are around and just in general.
Be aware of the energy you put out into the world. If you naturally go to a negative place, you’re defensive and combative, and you don’t listen or give space for a conversation to develop, you probably have shitty energy and you should check yourself and work on that.
