RECIPE: Homemade Burgers

It’s crazy to think we’re responsible for feeding a bunch of growing humans at least three times a day, 365 days a year. That is 1,095 meals per year 🤯 We’re exhausted just thinking about it and figure you’re feeling the same… So, we thought we’d share some of our favourite, go-to recipes that are pretty mindless to make and that we know the kids will actually eat 👍🏻 First up is Nat’s burger recipe! It’s literally six ingredients and can be whipped up in less than 20 minutes. The best part about it? Half the prep work is done by the kids because they can add whatever toppings they like to make their own custom burger.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1/2 cup Panko

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard

  • 1 tbsp ketchup or barbecue sauce

  • 1/2 tsp salt

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat grill for high heat (can be a barbecue grill or a grill pan like this one).

  2. In a bowl, whisk together the egg, yellow mustard, ketchup or barbecue sauce and salt.

  3. Add ground beef and Panko into the mixture and mix together the ingredients with a fork (or your hands) until thoroughly blended.

  4. Form mixture into 4 patties (approximately 3/4 inch thick).

  5. Place patties on grill. Cover and cook 6 to 8 minutes per side.

  6. Serve on buns (or go bunless if you’re wanting a low carb option) with a choice of toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onion, caramelized onion, bacon, cheese…and the list goes on. You can keep it simple with only a few options or you can go all out if you’re feeling ambitious !
