Much like a house is always going to require attention, Katilyn's journey to total self-acceptance is always going to require work. Every day is a choice to love herself, focus on the positive and build up her self-esteem.
People focus a lot on the negative side of social media–and there is one– but there are more positive voices than ever before. Young girls, especially, can find strong, empowering female voices and body-positive accounts. The key is to search them out.
No matter how hard we try, we're not going to please everyone. That's why Kaitlyn says she's an "acquired taste" and follows it with the punchline, "If you don't like me, get some taste." That said, she's learned not to judge anyone who may find her "extra" a little too much to handle (she keeps those judgments to herself). Depending on how you were raised and your life experiences, you may be a more serious and reserved person. We're all different personalities and there's room for everyone.
Kaitlyn's drunken alter-ego is her evil twin sister, Katrina, who comes out when she drinks vodka so she tends to stay away. Her drink of choice? Champagne.
Young girls need to fully understand and embrace their own self-worth before they try to find someone deserving. The best example of that would be in their own homes, if they're fortunate enough to have parents who love and support one another unconditionally.
Kaitlyn says she doesn't regret past boyfriends because she learned valuable lessons from each of them. There's always someone and something to learn from, if you're willing to grow.
People often say that finding your person is the "missing piece of the puzzle." Kaitlyn disagrees. She says you are the entire puzzle, not needing anyone else to complete you. Rather, your partner is the frame, to support and show off the puzzle. It's not vital but it does add value.
