Q&A SESSION:

  • You’re an entrepreneur who speaks to professionals about finding their voice and finding their inner confidence to have a voice. How did you get into this role?

Jam chats about her job as a speaking coach at the 1 min. mark. She’s learned to really own her personal voice, which she believes has made her a better public speaker. Listen in for more on this!

  • So many people end up going through life never finding their voice or having someone speaking for them. How does one find their own unique voice? How do you help people find it?

Jam says she helps people trust their voice first. Tune in at the 3 min. mark for this lightbulb moment, some honest advice about how Jam helps her clients through this process, and insight into her own experience with this as well. You have to go back in time and figure out what the source of the behaviour is before you can begin to trust your voice.

  • You speak about confidence to others but you found that you were still holding back, so what should the people without all of your experience do? How are we supposed to find our voice?

What Jam realized about herself was that she had big goals, but she was playing it safe and just exploring the things that she knew she could accomplish. She was dimming her light a little bit. Tune in at the 8 min. mark for more on Jam’s realization.

  • Why is it so hard for women to articulate and talk about our wins?

Jam thinks a lot of it has to do with society but also a lot to do with our upbringing. She’s not a mom yet, but listen in at the 11 min. mark to hear why Jam thinks her future child will be “the most” and why we shouldn’t have any issues with women celebrating themselves.

  • If you are feeling like you’re not in a place you want to be, the only way to get out of where you’re at and get to where you want to be is by using your voice and expressing what you want. Otherwise, you’re just going to keep doing the same thing. So if you want to bring in an income or make changes, you need to vocalize that. But so many women are too afraid to talk to their partner about their dreams and what they want…

Finding your voice and using your voice with your partner (your toughest audience) and telling them how you feel and what your boundaries are is a whole other ballgame. But it’s not about changing your partner, it’s about changing yourself and realizing that you’ve been biting your tongue for too long, which is a domino effect that affects every area of your life not just the husband & wife dynamic. Check out the 19 min. mark for more on this.

  • How can you start something if you can’t even speak to your toughest critic?

Jam explained that people are so focused on that public voice, but what they don’t realize is that the strength you get in your personal voice (how you talk to your children, how you talk to your partner, how you talk about yourself, how you use your voice to establish boundaries) is what prepares you to come out into the public and say “Here I am. This is what I do.” Head to the 21 min. mark for the inspiration and advice you need to start showing up as yourself unapologetically and proceeding without permission.

  • Do you think you have to go through stuff to get to that level of confidence?

Jam doesn’t think it’s impossible to develop confidence without going through hard things. Everyone’s story is different. Tune in at the 30 min. mark to find out how she got to the point where she’s at (especially this year).

  • Who are the people that hire you and are there any commonalities? Are they mostly women?

People assume that everyone who Jam works with are aspiring professional speakers, but that’s not true. They are humans who all have one thing in common - they doubt themselves. Tune in at the 32 min. mark for the full story about how she started this six years ago and how her focus and purpose has evolved since then.

  • What is one thing that people can do to start working on finding that inside voice?

Jam recommends two things. Every single time you are called on or given the opportunity to use your voice and you’re scared, write down why and start keeping a log so you can track it. Check out the 32 min. mark for the second thing Jam wants people to start doing!
